So, it's nearly 2010 and the start of a new decade (face it date pedants, the calendar is so screwed up we may as well accept the mob rule on this - and besides, 2009->2010 feels more significant than 2010->2011).
This time ten years ago I was about to start my second term of Sixth Form, I was thinking about university despite it being aaaages away, I was still closeted to real life friends and family, I had never seen James, I'd never kissed anyone, I was still involved in Scouts, I was planning on graduating with a CS degree and then finding a small firm where I could change the world through programming (the ambition may have stretched to been Google had it been around then) and I was only watching Star Trek for Wil Wheaton.
Now, I'm only watching Star Trek for Chris Pine, I'm happy in a job well outside of computers, no longer involved in Scouts, kissed enough people to need both hands, seen James enough times to need both hands, come out the closet (and don't think I'll fit back in again), am still thinking about uni despite it being aaaaaaages away and am about to start my second term at the OU.
Overall, the first part of the decade was about change,- coming out, going to uni, changing my life plans; the second half about consolidation - CAB, Adviser post. What will this new decade bring? I hope it will bring the continuation of my education, the continuation of my job, the winning of the lottery and subsequent move to a nice large library - sorry, house - in the country (with cute boyfriend who drives 8-).
OK, maybe some of that is more likely than others...
I have though, I think, settled on a New Year's Resolution which will be announced on @penwing come midnight.
So, happy new year, happy new decade, may it be fruitful and fun and full of greatness for everyone!
Alex
