Letter sent to my MP about supporting the Equality Bill. As I have not received a reply whenever I've used WriteToThem, I daren't trust the EqualityBill.com e-mail your MP feature so this is being sent by regular snail mail.
Dear Ms Southworth,
Thank you for following up on my comments on the Digital Britain Interim Report. Following those comments I contributed further to the consultation on the proposed Digital Rights Agency and have included a copy of those notes for your own reference.
I want to take this opportunity to urge your support of the Equality Bill recently introduced. As an out queer man, I believe that strengthened, unified equality laws for all who suffer discrimination, harassment and victimisation are important. I also believe that the proposed Equality Duty will be a huge step forward in ensuring that people from all minority groups are treated fairly. I am currently looking into some details of the bill which I hope can be addressed at committee stage, but I hope that you will be supporting the bill at the second reading which I understand is on 11th May.
Thank you for your time in this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Alex Lambert
