So, today is a blogosphere event to promote our favourite geeky women in honour of Ada Lovelace - the world's first computer programmer. I wish the event well and hope that we can reclaim Ada from the offensive "honour" that is having the other Ada named after you.
So, who's the Ada that I respect and want to doff my cap to? The big one I've got to praise is PJ of Groklaw fame. She has worked tirelessly to shed light on the legal shenanigans of newSCO. In so doing, not only has she illuminated the legal system and it's impact on our geeky lives, she has pioneered moving free software theory into non-software areas.
She has been dedicated to lifting every rock, examining every claim and documenting every find. She has asked questions, she has learnt, she has taught. She has maintained and encouraged a passion for the legal system. She has been a vocal advocate for open standards and software patent reform. She has done all this whilst enduring threats and attacks from those who prefer the shade of the rocks she dislodges.
So, to PJ and all the other women who revel in their geekdom, I salute you!
Alex

I got this out with two hours to spare... no need to kick me physically or virtually!
