Well, it's the end of the year (nearly) so time for a round up and predictions (all the cool kids are doing it don't cha know?). So, without further ado, lets have a nosey through my year...
Books
According to my LibraryThing statistics, I've read over 100 books this year. Well above my 52 book target. Looking through it, 10 seem to have gathered 5 stars, but my standout Best Fiction is probably going to go to The Graveyard Book for it's ability to surprise me. The Worst Fiction Book has to be The Da-da-de-da-da Code. Best and Worst Non-Fiction Books have to go to Queer Theory, Gender Theory and The Folklore of Discworld respectively.
Performances
I've been to a wide range of performances this year, including gigs, stand up comedy and plays.
Worst Performance comes with two strong contenders: Bill Bailey and The Mighty Boosh. The Mighty Boosh do, however, just about win because my anticipation was so much higher for them than the last minute invite to Bill Bailey.
Best Performance is even harder. From discovering new local bands (The 66, The Vandahls, Exile Parade, Black Manalishi) to seeing the re-emergence of old favourites (James!!). From Hamlet to The Bible: Complete Word Of God (Abridged). I'm not convinced that I can choose at all in this category.
Miscelleneous
Best Wedding has to go to Emma and Andrew.
Best Fancy Dress has to go to the simplicity of Phil and Dan's Terrance and Phillip outfits (although Stu's wonderful Bender outfit is also a strong contender).
Best Film is tricky, I don't feel like I've seen a lot this year. Batman Dark Knight and The Orphanage are the two I particularly recall and I think both deserve this accolade.
Predictions
Predictions are never my strong point. With all the anticipation of the Watchmen movie, I'm scared it'll be a massive let down (here's keeping my fingers crossed it's not!).
Will Labour call an Election? I have no idea. I personally don't see either party actually winning an election at any point in the future so Labour are unlikely to call one. If an election were called soon, I think it would mean the the Tories would get in which would be horrific for gay rights if what I see elsewhere is anything to go by.
And that's about it really. If you have any bests or worsts or predictions, put 'em in the comments...
