There are a few things I never got round to blogging about last week due to tiredness.
I'm all alone in the house at the moment and nothing much is happening at the weekends. I'm going stir crazy. I need some lovin' people! Especially as I have a week off next week (complete with The Wire S2, BSG Mini-Series, S1, S2 and S3 on DVD for company). Wednesday night I should be roleplaying, Tuesday night I may make it to the quiz, other than that... nothing.
Speaking of Tuesday... last Tuesday was a busy one for me. With work, I sit on the Student Loan Company Student Consultative Group (which is as much a mouthful as you can imagine). This is a group of advisers, sabbatical officers and SLC representatives liaising and discussing issues with the SLC. This time it was held in Belfast (it is felt that having the meetings such a trek away in Glasgow is off-putting 8-). So I had to wake up at 05:30 to get ready, get to the airport and fly to Belfast.
Last time I flew was when I was 18. As a birthday present (for me, a guy who doesn't like heights or driving) my parents got me an introductory flying lesson. Before that was a family holiday to Spain (and back). Oh, I'm still scared of heights. But bizarrely not of flying. I was looking out the window going "oooh, ahhh" (probably to the bemusement/annoyance of the person next to me).
I got back to good old terra firma England and my home just in time to dump my bag and make a mad dash to The Parr Hall to see The Bible: The Complete Word of God (Abridged) from the Reduced Shakespeare Company also starring my parents as the two gorillas on Noah's Ark. No, I didn't get photographic or video evidence 8-(
So, yeah, I spent a lot of last week knackered and now I need this rest.
So, today, to start my holiday, I forwent a lie-in to make sure I was ready for a trip into Manchester for the annual Christmas Market with my parents and grandparents (who came up especially). 'twas much fun. I got me some fudge. And some Sausage (stop sniggering at the back there!). And some new bags. I will be going back for a gingerbread house thing for the Christmas Party.
Waiting to come home from Manchester I leave my parents at the station whilst I run for a paper. I come back to see they've left the seats, and then them on the train. The train to Blackpool. Chugg Chugg Chugg. You can't leave them a second.
I have also spent almost every spare second hunting down a copy of Last Watch. A copy of the oversized paperback variety. With the good cover (not the new trade paperback style). And also with Chapter 5 of Book 2. I suspect that the publisher has recalled due to the misprint leaving no copies anywhere 8-( If anyone sees a copy in the wild and wants to let me know I'll not be unappreciative (just see the requirements above).
That means I'll just have to read my other books...
Now, I just need to write the political post now alongside watching Merlin 8-)
